President Barack Obama is reportedly set to guest star on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. The new episode will be simulcast across Comedy Central, MTV, and BET.
This will be the first time President Obama will appear on The Daily Show since Trevor Noah took over the show’s hosting position last year. Since Obama will be leaving the Presidential office this January, it will be his last time on a late night talk show as President.
The episode is set to premiere on December 12th around 10pm CT. The new Daily Show segment will also be the President’s first late night talk show interview since the November Presidential election.
The Daily Show interview is set to also take place in the White House.
President Obama has appeared previously on The Daily Show as a guest seven times. The last time he was on the show was around July 2015. It was one-month before John Stewart, the previous host, departed from the series.
The 2015 Daily Show episodes gathered around 1.5 million viewers. The most recent episodes have gathered an average of 350,000 viewers.
Although the show’s overall viewership ratings have lagged since Stewart’s departure, Trevor Noah has increased the show’s media attention. The Daily Show’s media attention has grown since Noah’s up-to-date segments of the 2016 elections.
Earlier this month, The Daily Show gained more media attention when right-wing conservative Tomi Lahren guest starred. They discussed the Black Lives Matter Movement and Collin Kaepernick’s decision to take a knee during the national anthem.
Noah visibly flinched when Lahren compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the KKK. Although when The Daily Show host asked Lahren how African American individuals could voice their opinions and gain attention, she failed to answer.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weekdays on Comedy Central. Previous episodes are available to stream on Comedy Central’s website and on Hulu.
