Love is in the air when two soldiers were set to get married this past Sunday, but the two did not plan on a surprise guest.
Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr. are two respected army captains who planned their wedding months in advance, just as most do, and decided to have the service at the 16th tee box at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, which is located on the marine base in Hawaii. The two had to move the location of their wedding when they were told after the rehearsal on Saturday that President Obama was scheduled to play a round of golf that same day on the course.
Is a golf game more important than a wedding to the Commander and Chief? President Obama and the White House claim that they had no idea of the service that was scheduled. While it is understood that the President of the United States is essentially the most important person in the country, officials at the base should have informed President Obama’s people because chances are he would not have gone through with his game.
The President did call the couple to apologize about the incident, and the base relocated the service to a location not too far from the original desired tee box the couple had in mind.
