When people travel to London something on their to-do list is usually go see the Queen’s Guard. You know, those men with the big black hats and the stiff walking. Everyone wants to go see them and a lot of tourists like to mess with the Queen’s Guard.
There is a video that has been going around online of a tourist walking along with a Queen’s Guard soldier. This is usually normal behavior for some tourists when they see the Queen’s Guard. Events turned when the tourist thought it would be a good idea to place his hand on the soldier’s shoulder.
Something to note that the Queen’s Guard are soldiers with weapons. Why touch them? When the tourist touched the soldier he drew his weapon with a very sharp bayonet on the end. The Soldier also yelled “Step back from the Queen’s Guard!” The tourist jumped out of frame and what can be assumed in a fright.
The video is titled “Why you don’t harass the Queen’s Guard” and has over two million views on Youtube. According to the Guardian an army spokesperson said that the soldier was within his rights. Especially when he is being harassed by a person of the general public.
The spokesperson also said “It is disappointing that a member of the public has shown such disrespect to a member of the Queen’s Guard. The Queen’s Guard is under orders to protect Her Majesty, the palace and his post.”
The soldier will not be facing any disciplinary action from the events in the video.
