During Variety’s Actors on Actor’s interview chat, Taraji P. Henson and Ryan Reynolds discussed their rising careers and failed auditions. The two actors held their live interview at the Venetian in Las Vegas. The interview is set to debut live on PBS SoCal on January 3rd 2017.
Reportedly Reynolds revealed that he hopes to be joining Hensen soon on a guest appearance on Empire. The Deadpool actor revealed that he has recently auditioned for a part in the Fox series.
With that topic, Reynolds told Henson that one of his alleged failed auditions was for a Coen Brothers film. The actor couldn’t remember which Coen brothers film he auditioned for. Although he claimed that they were very “high class” judgers.
Reynolds stated that the Coen brothers who produced and directed films like Fargo were quietly shaking their heads at his performance.
Henson opened up and reportedly revealed that her last failed audition was for Shonda Rhimes’s Scandal. The actress claims that she is glad Kerry Washington got the part since she felt that it was her perfect role.
Henson then discussed how becoming Cookie from Fox’s Empire gave her unexpected fame. She discussed that beforehand, she could allegedly go to target without being recognized. Now she says that everyone is watching her and that she has to find a house with a private gate.
Reynolds discussed how with Deadpool he had the opposite problem. The actor claimed that for a while he represented the death of a superhero character.
He claimed that after his Green Lantern role he became un-hirable. The actor stated that took over eleven years for him to get his Deadpool project going.
Henson commented that a lot of people assume that he can get anything done and make a movie just because of his popular name. The Deadpool star commented that he took the project because he loved the anarchy his character represented.
Ryan Reynolds also claims that he thinks he was actually wearing the Deadpool suit more in the marketing campaigns rather than the actual film. The actor also revealed that because of it, he actually stole the suit at the end of the film’s production and brought it home with him.
