It’s been (quite) a few years since Sarah Jessica Parker strapped on a pair of Carrie Bradshaw’s Manolo Blahnik’s for Sex and the City, and while we probably won’t see SJP’s alter ego anytime soon, HBO subscribers will get to see the actress in a new show.

Divorce is a new comedy about Frances (Parker) who, after deciding she wants a break from her life and marriage, finds that starting over is hard.

Parker, at 50 years old, is happily married to her husband of 18 years, fellow actor and Broadway regular Matthew Broderick, but she is interested in telling a story that many people can relate to.

“I think we’re at an age where a lot of people have experienced it. Or are about to, or want to, or secretly wish they could. Or [are] so grateful that their marriage isn’t at that state,” Parker says. “And so I love the idea of telling that story.”

Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam will co-star as Parker’s  single friends and Thomas Hayden Church will appear as SJP’s ex-husband.

Like Sex and the City, Divorce will take place in New York City. A release date for the show’s premiere has not yet been announced.
