Scarlett Johansson will indeed reprise her fan favorite character, Black Widow, in the up and coming third Captain America film, entitled, “Captain America: Civil War”.
This will be the fifth film that Johansson will play Black Widow in, and Johansen will join the cast composed of Robert Downey Jr. Chris Evans, and Sebastian Stan.
Her confirmation in the film was announced on Thursday at a press conference in Berlin made by film directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who stated, “We’ve been preparing for the movie since [Captain America: The Winter Soldier] debuted last year,” the pair told reporters. “We’re very happy how it’s coming along … Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier will be back and Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us.”
It is unaware if the story will follow the comic books, but the film is highly anticipated for those fans of the comics and the movies regardless.
We do know that the film will depict an exciting portrayal of two friend pitted against each other as the characters of Tony Stark, Iron Man, and Steve Rodgers, Captain America are going to be battling it out against each other.
Downey Jr., Evans, and Johansson can all be seen together for the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” where they will reprise the roles, which they have molded into their own. This film will also most likely lead into the events of “Captain America 3,” and there is a lot of speculation as to why the two have turned into foes.
The film is set to open May 6, 2016.
