Sex Offender Who Won the Lottery is Being Sued by Victims

It’s said that when someone wins the lottery that they start hearing from people that they have not had contact with in years or ever. While this may be the case for a man who just won the lottery in Orlando, the circumstances are quite different.

Timothy Dale Poole bought a lottery ticket early last month at a local convenience store in Orlando, Florida, and was lucky enough to win 3 million dollars in the Florida State Jackpot.

Timothy Dale Poole has a bit of a background to him, and has to struggle with certain decisions that he has made over the duration of the past twenty years. While many people are happy when they hear that someone is struggling wins the lottery, Poole is not receiving the same good thoughts as others do, and the reason is because he is a registered sex offender and has done time for sexual battery.

Now that the news of Poole success has made public news, the two children who were just 9 and 5 years old at the time of the crime feel that they should finally be reimbursed by this man for all the years of pain and suffering he has caused them.

The two original children of the crime have filed a lawsuit against Poole, and hope to receive some of the money that he has won.

Poole is a current taxi driver, pleaded guilty to sexual battery back in 1999, and served 13 months in prison, and was put on probation that would be taken away after he stopped showing up to his counseling meetings. Because he did not respect his part of the probation mandated to him he then received another three years in jail, and is still labeled as a registered sex offender today.

The morality question of this lawsuit is, did Poole serve his time and should he give the two children his money that he received for unrelated circumstances? The original crime took place in 1999, and if the two children have spent all that time suffering is a fact that is saddening, but the court is going to have to decided if Poole is responsible for reimbursing the two of them after all that time.
