Actors Shia LaBeouf and Jaden Smith have reportedly teamed up together to launch a live streaming protest against Donald Trump.
Smith allegedly took a campaign photo of him outside the Museum of Moving Image in New York City. The young actor took a photo of him standing below the words “He will not divide us”.
Smith and a crowd of people began chanting the phrase early this morning at 8am ET.
The protest project was created by Shia LaBeouf and partners Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner.
The premise for the Trump protest is simple. The trio have invited the public to chant the campaign’s phrase as many times as they want. The protest’s website states that this mantra will act as a show of resistance.
The project website also states that the phrase will remind the public to be optimistic for the future.
LaBeouf and his partners claim that the project will last four years or throughout the duration of Trump’s presidency. The although it’s unclear what protocols LaBeouf plans to ensure the camera and other technology equipment stay intact during large protests.
Commentators and fans are sure LaBeouf has enough experience to deal with keeping his performance pieces and/or technical equipment intact during protests.
The project launched this Friday morning with Smith at his New York position and reportedly hasn’t left his post yet. Participants and Smith’s friend/singer Harry Hudson have also allegedly gathered together to protest.
Shia LaBeouf is known for creating projects for performance art. With his last initiative #ELEVATE, himself and his partners invited the public to join them for a 24-hour live streaming elevator ride.
He also previously launched the #TakeMeAnywhere, where him and his team traveled with fans who took them to new locations around the country.
His most famous project is #AllMyMovies where LeBeouf displayed all his films in reverse chronological order in a New York theater. The 24-hour event reportedly lasted for over three days.
