According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, six Palestinians were killed at a refugee camp in Jenin in the occupied West Bank by the Israeli military.

According to Israel’s prime minister, one of the dead murdered two Israeli brothers last month.

Their killings at Hawara, farther south, prompted a rampage by Jewish settlers across the city. It was one of the worst episodes of its kind in recent memory.

The assault on Hawara was highly condemned on a global scale. Tuesday afternoon’s Israeli operation against Palestinian militants took place in a refugee camp.

Footage shared on social media showed smoke pouring from a building and helicopters hovering over a column of military vehicles. There are also reports suggesting that heavy gunfire had been exchanged.

The Israeli military claimed to have used shoulder-fired missiles and that armed local fighters fired at troops from an ambulance.

Palestinian authorities have revealed that five men in their twenties and one man in his forties were among those killed.

He had previously served time in an Israeli jail and was reportedly a Nablus-born member of the terrorist group Hamas. On February 26, he reportedly shot both brothers, according to Palestinian officials.

The Israeli military said on Tuesday that in a separate operation in Nablus, they had detained two of his sons. They believe the sons participated in the attack on the brothers.

Hillel and Yagel Yaniv were murdered while traveling through Hawara, which is situated around 4 miles south of Nablus.

Tensions are rising

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a video message in which he claimed that Israeli troops had “eliminated the horrible terrorist who murdered [the brothers] in cold blood.”

In the heart of the assassins’ hideout, our valiant soldiers conducted careful operation.

Palestinian president’s spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, blamed the Israelis for “this dangerous escalation” and accused them of seeking “all-out war.”

In response for the killings of the boys, hundreds of Israeli settlers assaulted Hawara, torching dozens of cars and homes.

The Israeli military has denied participation in the killing of Sameh Aqtash, 37, who, according to Palestinian reports, was shot and killed by Israeli forces when they attacked the village with settlers.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, over a hundred Palestinians were injured.

In the West Bank, tensions and violence between Israeli settlers and Palestinians are a constant concern, with the attack on Hawara ranking among the most violent incidents of this kind.

According to the Palestinians, the Israeli military did nothing to prevent the settlers’ assault on the city.

On Monday evening, Israelis threw stones at a Palestinian family seated in a stopped car before the car raced away, prompting more conflict in Hawara.

This year has seen a rise in violence between Israelis and Palestinians across the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

At least 70 Palestinians, including terrorists and civilians, have been murdered by Israeli forces, while 13 Israelis have been killed in attacks; all but one were civilians.
