Supporter handed three-year ban for racist gesture towards Tottenham’s Son

Tottenham Hotspur has announced that a visiting supporter has been given a three-year football ban for making a racist gesture towards Son Heung-min, the club’s forward. The incident took place during Tottenham’s 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace in May. The fan in question was arrested and charged with a racially aggravated public order offence. Initially, the spectator pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 60 hours of community service and a fine. However, the police appealed the original sentence after Tottenham expressed concerns about leniency, resulting in the imposition of the banning order. In response to the incident, Tottenham released a statement emphasizing their zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination and their commitment to taking strong action against those responsible.
