Selfies have become a highly accepted display of social interaction between groups of people and sole individuals who want to share a moment of their lives with the rest of the world.
People continuously try to reinvent what social commentary can be made by posing in a certain unique situations. Officials reported that a 16 year old has been arrested after it is believed that the teenager shot and killed another teen, and continued to pose with the deceased’s body for a selfie.
Maxwell Marion Morton took the photograph shortly after he allegedly murdered fellow teen Ryan Mangan in the victim’s home in Pittsburgh.
According to The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Morton sent the selfie to one of his friends who showed the picture to his mother, and she turned the photo over to the police.
The newspaper reported, “(Police) received a copy of the photo which depicted the victim sitting in the chair with a gunshot wound to the face,” the newspaper quoted the affidavit as saying. “It also depicts a black male taking the ‘selfie’ with his face facing the camera and the victim behind the actor.”
According to the authorities Morton has admitted to shooting fellow 16 year old, Mangan, with a 9 mm handgun that was found in the basement of Morton’s home.
Morton is currently being charged with first-degree murder and is being held in prison without bail; he is being charged as a adult.
