There are 3 winning tickets floating around out there after it was confirmed that tickets in Texas, North Carolina and Puerto Rico contained the winning numbers for Wednesday’s Powerball.
The drawing for this week’s Powerball Prize was for a $564.1 million jackpot making it the third biggest Powerball jackpot in history; with the winning numbers being 11, 13, 25, 39, 54 and the Powerball 19.
Sue Dooley, who serves as the senior drawing manager for the Multi-State Lottery Association told the Associated Press that one of the tickets, the one in Puerto Rico, was the first Powerball jackpot winner ever sold outside the continental United States.
Dooley has yet to receive any information on specifically where the tickets were sold, but once the winners come forward with their tickets they will each receive $381,138,450.16 before Uncle Sam claims his portion for taxes.
This was the biggest jackpot in two years, when in was 59.5 million dollars, which was won back in May of 2013. While the biggest payout of all time occurred back in 2012 at $656 million, the prize was split amongst three individuals in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland.
The Powerball’s numbers have not been as high as they previously were due to the Powerball and Mega Millions changing their process in an attempt to make larger grand sum prizes, which in the long hall hopefully bring in more players near the time of the drawing. The lottery officials say it normally averages out in the long run.
