Toni Braxton has been an icon in Hip Hop and R&B music for the last few decades. While the singer has been able to maintain her popularity, she has also been very vocal about her battles with her health. Unfortunately, the artist has been having some struggles with her Lupus. According to E News, the singer was hospitalized for issues with her Lupus, but is now recovering.
News of the singer’s recovery emerged on Monday. Her representatives have released a statement saying that she is doing better since her most recent complication. Though Braxton had been in the hospital for a few days dealing with her Lupus, her team is also reporting that she has now been released and able to get some rest in her own home.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease. E! News also reports that the singer has been public with her battle with the disease since 2010 and personally describes it as something that has to be taken seriously and constantly monitored. She even interviewed about the disease with the Huffington Post in 2015. E! News released her statements from the interview. They can be read below.
“Some days I can’t balance it all. I just have to lay in bed. Pretty much when you have Lupus you feel like you have the flu every day. But some days you get through it. But for me, if I’m not feeling well, I tend to tell my kids ‘Oh mommy’s just going to relax in bed today.’ I kind of take it easy.”
Braxton has been and will continue to be an icon in the music industry. As she battles with her disease, she also becomes and inspiration for those who also deal with it and a voice for them. One can only hope that Braxton will have a full and speedy recovery.
