Trump Must Blame Russia For Cyber Attack, Joe Biden says

Trump has floated the idea on Twitter that China might be responsible for the hacking spree. Uncovered last week, it breached at least half a dozen U.S. government agencies and left thousands of American companies exposed.

President-elect Joe Biden said on Tuesday that he had not seen any evidence suggesting that the latest cyber-attack on the American government systems is under control and added that once he assumes the presidential office, the breach would not go unanswered.

Biden further said that President Donald Trump must blame the hacking on the Russians- something that the incumbent is yet to do despite his Attorney General William Barr and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have already accuse Kremlin of the breach.

More:

Recently, Trump took to Twitter and floated the idea that Beijing might be behind the cyberattack on US government departments. The US intelligence agencies uncovered the hack last week and stated that it has left a dozen government agencies and businesses exposed.

While talking to the news reporters in Delaware, he described the hacking as a grave threat for the country and added that he had seen no evidence backing Trump’s claims that everything is “under control”. President-elect blamed the incumbent for stripping the American agencies to fight such cyberattacks, arguing that it happened under Trump’s watch “when he was not watching.”

This becomes the second big issue that Biden faces when assumes office on January 20. Following his win in the presidential election, President-elect must also fight the pandemic outbreak that has left millions of Americans dead and convincing Congress to pass another relief package to lift the economic activity devasted by the virus.

On Tuesday, Joe Biden stated that his administration would put forward another relief package in 2021, including a new round stimulus package, following the Congress passed an $862 billion this week. He said that the next bill should focus on the lack of PPEs, vaccine distribution, and unemployment.

Referring to the American response to the cyberattack, Biden said that his administration would take substantive steps to punish Moscow. While talking to the local news channels on Sunday, Biden’s incoming White House chief of staff, Ron Klain, stated that the President-elect is mapping out ways to challenge foreign actors’ capacity to launch a cyberattack against the US. Meanwhile, Russia has categorically denied any involvement in the breach.
