With four successful books and five high grossing films, The Twilight Saga’s, Stephanie Meyer announced Tuesday that there are plans in the making which will allow five aspiring female directors to create five short films based off our favorite vampires and werewolf’s.
The Twilight Saga hit shelves in 2005 and changed the world for young adults. Suddenly everyone wanted to fall in love with a vampire, and we aren’t talking about your typical long caped villain with a sly mustache. Robert Pattinson was cast to play the troubled vampire known as Edward Cullen who falls madly in love with human Bella Swan, played by Kristin Stewart.
Backed by Women in Film, the project known as “The Storytellers—New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga”, is all about showing the talent of women in film.
“The female voice is something that has become more and more important to me as I’ve worked in the film industry,” Meyers said in a statement.
These lucky female directors will be chosen from an all female panel affiliated with the franchise. Among them, Stephanie Meyer, Bella Swan herself, Kristin Stewart and director Catherine Hardwicke. Other members include, Kate Winslet and Otcavia Spencer.
Lion’s Gate and production partners will be releasing the projects via Facebook sometime next year.
