The American Center for Diseases and Control (CDC) revealed that it has so far administered a total of 228.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines as of Sunday morning and distributed 290,692,005 doses, and the That is an increase from the 225,640,460 vaccine doses the CDC said had been administered by April 24 out of 290,685,655 doses delivered.

The agency said 139,978,480 people had received at least one dose, while 94,772,329 people had been fully vaccinated as of Sunday. The CDC’s count includes the shots prepared by Moderna and Pfizer and one-shot Johnson & Johnson.

Top U.S. health regulators said the country could immediately resume the use of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, ending a 10-day pause to investigate its link to extremely rare but potentially deadly blood clots. A total of 7,791,490 vaccine doses have been administered in long-term care facilities, the agency said.

Meanwhile, India recorded its highest daily coronavirus surge for the fifth consecutive day, as the European nations, including Germany, United States, and Britain, pledging to send help to the Asian country. So far, the health officials have recorded more than 17 million confirmed infections with nearly 352,000 fatalities.

Several public and private health care centers across the country have run out of critical medical supplies, especially oxygen supplies and drugs. The local media reports suggest that the hospitals are no turning away people as they can not cope with the sudden soar in infections. Besides that, Turkey and Thailand have imposed stricter social distancing restrictions in a bid to curb the new wave of infections.
