This morning another Venom trailer was released.
It’s not bad but neither did it boost my confidence in the final film.
I don’t really have any anticipation for this movie; it’s not even in my top ten anticipated movies for fall 2018. I’m more excited for Mary Poppins Returns than this movie.
However, I do hope it’s not too bad. I have this hope because of its great cast that features Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed and Woody Harrelson.
Also, Tom Hardy as Venom is just awesome. Hardy does a great job at playing a villain (even Venom is an antihero in this movie, he’ll probably have villainous tendencies). This is very likely based off the trailer.
Seriously though, it would be awesome to see Tom Hardy’s Venom fight against Tom Holland’s Spider-man. Even if there isn’t a Venom sequel, maybe Hardy can show up in other movies in smaller roles.
It really depends on how bad this movie is and whether people love Hardy as Venom or not.
Despite, the trailer not being that enjoyable for me, there were things I liked.
It was thrilling to finally see a fully realized version of Venom. And goodness, Venom is gigantic. He looks he could swallow Spider-man without chewing. Also, notice Venom doesn’t have a Spider-man symbol on his chest.
This is strange but gives the character more freedom.
Also, the visual aesthetic of how the Venom symbiote interacts with Hardy looks pretty fun. It might not look real but it does look creepy and terrifying.
And this terror might translate into action. Even if the story of Venom isn’t great, the action looks great.
Venom is ruthless and doesn’t hold back. And I guess what he’s doing is fine since it’s against “bad” guys.
There’s also Venom against the Riot symbiote. I don’t think it’s going to be a horrific CGI fest but a fun, slimey versus battle between near equal beings.
I will admit though the final scene of the trailer isn’t pleasing. Venom seems a little too vicious but I guess that’s the point. I just wonder will it be difficult for viewers to want to follow or root for this character.
Also, one question: what’s going to be the origin of the Venom name? Will the symbiote already have an attachment to that name or will Hardy just randomly choose that name?
Venom will be released to theatres on Oct 5 this year.
