Today, November 4, VICE announced they will be launching their own TV Channel called VICELAND.
Over the years, VICE has been making tons of videos and documentaries and has now decided to make a new venture from their programs.
“VICELAND – a 24-hour cable channel featuring hundreds of hours of new programming. We’ve been shooting and cutting for months, and we can’t wait to share with you our vision of what television should look like,” VICE says in a statement released today.
The TV Channel and its content has been in the works for months and VICE is now finally ready to reveal the good news.
“It feels like most channels are just a collection of shows. We wanted VICELAND to be different, to feel like everything on there has a reason to exist and a strong point of view,” Spike Jones said. “Our mission with the channel is not that different from what our mission is as a company: It’s us trying to understand the world we live in by producing pieces about things we’re curious about, or confused about, or that we think are funny.”
Spike Jones has been working with VICE in the production and design of the VICELAND.
The trailer for the TV channel features Ellen Page as a reporter visiting Tokyo to explore the Japan’s LGBT life on a show called GAYCATION. Several other brand new, VICE-produced shows are presented in the video, including Motherboard, Black Market, VICE World of Sports, Weediquette and more.
VICELAND is set to air in 2016.
