Real Madrid put on a dominant display at the Bernabeu Stadium, with Brazilian duo Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo leading the way with two goals each in a 5-1 victory over Valencia in LaLiga on Saturday.
The scoring started early for Real Madrid, as Dani Carvajal found the back of the net in the third minute with a half-volley from the edge of the box. Despite their early dominance, Valencia had a couple of opportunities to score, but goalkeeper Andriy Lunin made some impressive saves to deny them.
Vinicius and Rodrygo were constant threats for Valencia’s defense, and they combined to extend Real Madrid’s lead in the 42nd minute. Rodrygo provided a low cross from the right touchline, and Vinicius scored with a diving header reminiscent of the footvolley games played on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro.
Vinicius, who had previously been a victim of racist abuse by Valencia fans, continued to shine in the game. Shortly after halftime, he scored again with a clinical curling shot from the edge of the box. Rodrygo then added to the lead just one minute later, tapping in from close range after intercepting a poor touch from the goalkeeper.
Rodrygo completed his brace in the 84th minute with a fine individual effort, dribbling past two defenders before finishing to the goalkeeper’s left. Valencia managed to score a consolation goal through Hugo Duro in the closing minutes of the game.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised his team’s performance, highlighting the quality, attitude, and courage they displayed throughout the match. He credited the success of Vinicius and Rodrygo to the numerous opportunities created by the team.
With this victory, Real Madrid sits in second place in the standings with 32 points, just two points behind surprise leaders Girona. Barcelona is currently in third place with 27 points and will face Alaves on Sunday.
Overall, it was an impressive performance by Real Madrid, showcasing their quality and creating a perfect reflection of their abilities on the field.
