According to a statement released by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) on Wednesday, the United States military carried out a helicopter raid in eastern Syria late on Saturday and detained an Islamic State agent along with two of his companions during the operation.
According to the statement, the seizure of Hudayfah al Yemeni and his companions would “destroy the organization’s capacity to plan and carry out activities.” In addition, the statement said that no civilians were wounded or killed in the incident.
The United States military said earlier this month that it had killed a top Islamic State commander in Syria. They identified the individual as Khalid ‘Aydd Ahmad al-Jabouri. The United States claims that he was responsible for developing the Islamic State’s command structure in Turkey as well as the planning and execution of strikes in Europe and Turkey.
