Police in Italy said, on Thursday, they were examining the source of a 14-ton amphetamine haul case.
Speaking to AFP, Colonel Domenico Napolitano, director of the Naples financial police, said that the large shipment left the port of Latakia in Syria. He noted further that it is still unclear who the drugmaker is and where it is manufactured.

Furthermore, the 84 million Captagon tablets concealed within industrial goods inside containers were worth around one billion euros ($1.12 billion), police noted on Wednesday. Following the confiscation in the port of Salerno in southern Italy.

Captagon Amphetamine
Captagon is a brand name. Its initial purpose was for medical use. However, for illicit use, it dubbed the name “the Jihad Drug. ” It is commonly used among the IS militants in fighting, police added.
Also, Napolitano added that a single amphetamine tablet cost between € 10 and €15 in Italy. That’s a reason the product is cheap for young people.
“We didn’t anticipate such an amount when we opened the container. We ‘re trying to understand what’s behind all this,” he said.
The sum of drugs confiscated was enough to serve the European market as a whole, police added, without providing a time frame.
Two weeks earlier, in the port of Salerno, the police confiscated a container shipped from Syria containing 2,800 kilos (6,200 pounds) of hashish. With more than one million amphetamine tablets carrying a similar symbol as those captured on Wednesday.
