An Austrian newspaper apologized for printing a death notice with a Nazi elite troop rank. The newspaper printed an announcement for the death of Lois Plock in the Kleine Zeitung. In the notice the newspaper included that Plock was an “Untersturmfuehrer.” Meaning that Plock was a paramilitary rank of Hitler’s special SS forces.
Plock would be one of Hitler’s bodyguards and would commit the Holocaust crimes. Along with other atrocities that didn’t make it into the history books. Along with announcing his rank in the SS forces, the newspaper included a verse associated with the oath of Nazi troops. Pledging their allegiance to Hitler and his cause.
The newspaper has stated that this was a “horrible mistake.” Glorifying the Nazi past is against the law in Austria.
