Grab your something old, something new, and something blue. Bridal Fashion Week spring 2016 was filled with unique pieces never before seen on the runway.
Designer brands like Marchesa, Amsale, and Oscar de la Renta took the runway, re-inventing the bridal scene.

The bridal world has revolutionized by putting brides in crop tops. Couture designer brand Theia showed off a two-piece dress with multi-hued appliques and Reem Acra stole the show with a plunging neck crop top. Newcomer designer Mira Zwillinger appeared with a sweet sheer tee dress.
Bye bye the hype of blush dresses. Hello nude tones. Neutral dresses were a big hit on the runway accompanied with embellishments like feathered and fringed skirts; these dresses were anything but dull.
Embellished sleeves were a big trend as well. Mostly short sleeves; they were sheer and an automatic accessory.

Following the unconventional trend, designers came out with many short options. Varying in lengths from above the knee to high-low, they were all fun and flirty. Jenny Packham, Oscar de la Renta, Ines di Santo and Houghton all came out with short ensembles perfect for the spring and summer season.

The runway really tested tradition with super-modern white pantsuits. Designer Carolina Herrera came out with a cropped pant suit while Houghton took a more breezy approach with a loose-leg pant perfect for those summer weddings. These were definitely an unexpected appearance to the runway but were welcomed with open arms.
Floral is taking over Fashion Week in all aspects as there were many bridal gowns in both traditional floral lace and colorful floral prints. Houghton not only shocked us with her suit but introduced a gown with three floral tiers. It was definitely the cake topper to the show. While still adding color, Naeem Khan and Randi Rahm kept it a bit simpler with watercolor printed dresses in traditional wedding dress silhouettes.
