The body of a missing AIG executive was discovered when it was found floating in a pond at a local golf course in Coachella Valley, California.
Omar Meza, the AIG Financial Distributors Vice President, went missing two weeks ago after he went to a work conference that was located in the area. He was last seen around 11 p.m. on January 8 at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert, he had just finished having dinner with a coworker.
Omar’s wife, Diane Meza, told authorities that he was dropped off by an Uber driver at the wrong hotel where Omar was seen walking around the lobby on surveillance footage.
His jacket and wallet would later be found at the site of the golf course, where Omar’s body would be discovered. Lt. David Teets, who leads the Sheriff’s Media Information Bureau, told KESQ, “People have to realize the property is 48 acres big and there are numerous bodies of water on the property.”
Even though that may be true, the authorities did have dive teams and search dogs that scanned the area, according to MyFoxLA reports.
Golfers found his body, as they attempted to end their game on the course. This is a very interesting and mischievous case because why would anyone wish to harm the AIG executive? Could the Uber driver have “accidentally” dropped him off on purpose? A lot of questions still remain, and investigators plan to examine the evidence and how the night’s events enfolded.
As for Omar’s family, they thanked everyone who helped search for Omar, by saying; “It brings tears to our eyes to see how well-loved Omar was. He will be missed by many.” On a Facebook tribute page to Omar, it also stated that he was a, “very loved son, husband, brother and friend.”
