Brentford manager Thomas Frank expressed optimism about Ivan Toney’s future with the Premier League club despite the striker’s eight-month ban from football due to 232 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules. Toney was also fined £50,000 and warned about his future conduct. Frank stated that they needed to support Toney through his suspension, especially regarding his mental health. Toney, who has scored 20 goals in 33 league games for Brentford this season, can return to training for the final four months of his suspension starting from September 17, 2023. Frank assured reporters that Toney’s future is with Brentford, and they are waiting for information on what they can do to support him during his suspension. Brentford, currently ninth, will visit Tottenham Hotspur before hosting leaders Manchester City in their final game of the season.
Brentford are reportedly optimistic about the future career of their club’s top goalscorer, Ivan Toney, despite his three-match suspension from the English Football League.

The 24-year-old was handed the ban after an incident in the Championship victory over Wycombe Wanderers last weekend, which saw him receive a red card for aggressive behaviour.

The ban was extended to four matches following an appeal, but Brentford are convinced that Toney’s future lies with the club.

Their club captain and manager, Thomas Frank, believes the incident was an unfortunate consequence of Toney’s enthusiasm and passion for the game, and he is backing the forward to refocus and help Brentford in their battle for promotion to the Premier League.

Toney joined the club from Peterborough in September 2020 for a club-record fee, and has already scored 24 goals in 35 matches, making him the most prolific striker in the Championship this season.

His goals have been integral to Brentford’s success, and his suspension is a big blow to their promotion hopes.

However, Brentford remain adamant that Toney will bounce back from the incident and play an even bigger role in their push for the top flight in 2021-22.

It is a difficult time for the club, but one thing that remains clear is their faith in the ability of their prized asset, Ivan Toney.
