Bryan Gumbel Calls the NRA a “Curse Upon the American Landscape”

In a new interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, HBO’s “Real Sports” host Bryant Gimbal proclaims that the NRA is a “curse upon the American landscape.”

The interview with the magazine wanted to focus on the importance that “Real Sports” has had on broadcasting. The show has earned 26 Emmys, and the Peabody Award. They also wanted to spotlight how Gumbel is a host who tells it as it is and “has never been one to play nice.”

However, this particular interview asked Gumbel about a piece he broadcasted last year entitled, “Eat What You Kill.” The episode depicted television host, Joe Rogen, as he hunted and killed animals, and he gutted the animals and prepared them to be eaten. Gumbel stated that it was his first time around killing, guns, and hunting.

The segment clearly left a bitter taste in the reporters mouth as he states, “There is a few things I hate more than the NRA,” Gumbel said. “I mean truly. I think they’re pigs. I think they don’t care about human life. I think they are a curse upon the American landscape. So we got that on the record,” exclaims Gumbel in the interview.

His perspective apparently had no effect on the subject or the segment when he was reporting about it. He commented on the status by saying, “That said, I’m willing to separate that this story had nothing to do with that. It’s not a gun story. So I would like to think that I would have done it, but I don’t know. Obviously, that was my first experience around killing and guns and hunting.”

The NRA has always gained and received comments from all sorts of gun control advocacy groups; the opinions of Mr. Gumbel indicate one point of view, one in which is very passionate and heated. The “Eat What You Kill” segment did not express any opinions about the subject, and was unbiased, and this was the first time that Gumbel expressed his true judgments about the NRA.
