Burnley have completed the signing of Zeki Amdouni, a Swiss striker, from FC Basel on a five-year contract. The transfer fee remains undisclosed, as confirmed by the Premier League club on Wednesday.
Amdouni, aged 22, emerged as the top scorer in the Europa Conference League last season, scoring seven goals. He also found the net 12 times in the Swiss Super League and has an impressive record of five goals in five appearances for the national team during Euro qualifiers.
Vincent Kompany, the manager of Burnley, expressed his satisfaction with the signing, stating that Amdouni has been on their radar for some time. Kompany highlighted the striker’s ability to create assists with his final pass and praised his work rate on the pitch, which results in him scoring goals. Kompany described Amdouni as an intelligent and technically gifted player with a strong work ethic, emphasizing his excitement to work with such a promising talent.
Amdouni’s arrival marks Burnley’s fifth signing as they prepare for their return to the top-flight of English football.
