- 'Erratic' Hurricane Norma on track to hit Mexico's Baja California

Hurricane Norma is approaching the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, posing a threat to popular tourist resorts in the area. The storm has strengthened to Category 3 strength with maximum sustained winds of 120 miles per hour. It is currently located 195 miles south of Cabo San Lucas and is moving north at a speed of 8 mph. Governor Victor Manuel Castro has described the storm as “very strong” and “erratic.” As a precautionary measure, bars, clubs, and other businesses have been instructed to close, and public transport will be suspended. Shelters with a capacity for 10,000 people have been set up. The National Hurricane Center has issued warnings of dangerous winds, heavy rainfall, and potential flooding in southern Baja California. The forecast predicts rainfall of 5-10 inches, with up to 15 inches in the hardest-hit areas. Governor Castro emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety and urged residents to prepare for the storm’s arrival.
