Fantastic Four Earns $26.2 Million in the Opening Weekend

The recent release of Marvel’s Fantastic Four received a bundle of mixed reviews. A few days ago, the film’s director, Josh Trank, blamed the production houses for the bad reviews the movie received.

Trank claimed that he didn’t get the freedom to exercise his great ideas for the film, but instead had to stick to what was being delegated by the producers. However, as the week passed, the earnings of the film have been calculated and just like the comments most viewers gave, the earnings were quite mediocre for a Marvel film.

According to the statistics, no Marvel Film has earned less than $35 million in the first week since the release of The Green Lantern in 2011. In 43 international markets, Fantastic Four earned just $34.1 million this week.

The audience has already commented that with a film as bad as this one, a sequel would be disastrous. Even though the blame game may go on for a while, it is fairly certain that superhero films from now on should stop being too clandestine about the films’ details before the release. Perhaps they should rather consider the opinions of die-hard comic book fans before they decide to make a film that they think the audience may like instead of making a film that the fans actually want.
