EA Sports has a demo coming up shortly for their wildly successful soccer game, the FIFA franchise. In an interview with GameReactor, lead producer Garreth Reeder revealed that a playable demo for the upcoming FIFA 17 will be released on September 13th.
If the demo is anything like previous EA Sports demos, it will allow players to face off in one-on-one match-ups, probably with two of the best teams in the world, as well as try out a taste of a new mode featured in this year’s game. For FIFA 17, that might mean players will get to try out a bit of the game’s new story mode, a first for the soccer sim franchise, and a first for sports games in general. Many titles have offered types of career modes where the player creates an athlete and guides them through a career in their specific sport, but never before has a fully developed narrative been placed into a sports game. FIFA 17’s story, which was first revealed at E3 earlier this year, follows a player named Alex Hunter, a newcomer and rising star in the English Premier League.
Of course, there’s no guarantee any of the story will be featured in the upcoming demo, but players can always hope. In the meantime, they can check out the top-rated players in the game, which were recently announced by EA.
Coming in at the number one spot is Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, with an overall rating of 94 out of 100. He displaced Argentinian football star Lionel Messi at the top spot. Messi was also positioned as the star on the game’s cover for four years running, but that honor is now going to Marco Reus, a German footballer who current plays for Borussia Dortmund.
The full game is set to launch on September 27th for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
