George Floyd Death: Leaked Police Body-cam Hints of Fatal Arrest

  • Helpless and non-violent Goerge Floyd was heard pleading the police officers not to shoot him on a newly leaked video.
  • The video was submitted in the court as evidence to support the dismissal of the case against the police officers involved in the case.
  • George Floyd’s attorney said the police officers involved in the arrest drew their guns simply because he was a “black man”.

In the newly leaked footage to Daily Mail, George Floyd was heard in the disturbing new footage pleading and showing the dying black man, “Please don’t shoot me”.

The video also shows a tearful George Floyd pleading to the officers while passengers in his car were also heard saying that “he is a good boy.”

The video also captured Goerge Floyd repeatedly apologizing to the police officers and saying that he has anxiety and that he has “claustrophobia’. He was then eventually restrained on the ground after that. One of the police officers was heard asking if “they have to roll him over to his side” and that he is worried about “a delirium.”

After his death, the four police officers involved in the case have been fired and charged with the crime.  Officer Derek Chauvin was charged with second-degree murder while officers J Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lanes, and Tou Thao were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.

Restrained George Floyd against 4 Police Officers

Although police only came for a $20 bill that he was accused of taking, three police officers used forced and guns to pin down a handcuffed and helpless George Floyd. On the video, it shows how he physically struggled while the three push, pull and grabs him.

There was no sign of him being violent on the video, but instead, he was heard repeatedly pleading to the police officers saying, “Please don’t do this.” As he tried to get in the police car, he was heard saying, “I’m going in,” but the officers raised his voice insisting “No”.

On July 7, the footage from the body cameras of officers Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng was filed on the court by Lane’s Atty as supporting evidence to his motion to dismiss the charges against the former officer.

Footage from the police body-worn cameras of Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng was filed with the court July 7 by Lane’s attorney as evidence supporting his motion to dismiss the charges against the former officer. Still, only the written transcripts were made public by the court at the time.

It was not clear how Daily Mail in London got the leaked footage.

George Floyd’s case Presiding Judge Peter Cahill has allowed for the limited in-person viewing of the footage at the court on July 15. The judge did not allow news organizations to publish the footage.

International news source CNN along with a group of local and national media companies, has requested the immediate release of the two body-worn camera videos.

In a statement to the press, the Floyd family’s attorney Ben Crump said the leaked video shows Floyd did not pose a threat to the police officers. He told the police officers approached Floyd with guns drawn because “he was a black man.” According to him, if not for the videos, the world will never know about the wrongs committed against Floyd.

The lawyers representing Thao and Lane have asked the court to dismiss the case against them while Kueng’s legal representative said Kueng would plead not guilty. The lawyers of Chauvin, for their part, declined to comment when CNN and other news sources asked for a statement.
