Whether you know it or not, most services such as apps, devices, and websites archive your activity on them. The popular search engine Google is no exception to this. However, recently the company has given users a way to view and erase all archived data.
This new service is called “My Activity”, and as mentioned before, it allows users to view all their history and activity patterns archived by Google and gives them option to erase it if they wish. Whether it be Google Chrome, Youtube or any android device, you can see how your activity is being monitored and decide the data’s fate.
The data in question here is the same data the company uses to decide which ads to display for you, what videos to recommend on Youtube or anything else to custom tailor your internet experience. However, there are times when privacy is an issue and those who wish to not have their internet movement archived can simply erase any trace of what they’ve been doing.
Additionally, there’s a feature to allow individuals to opt in or out of advertisement services. This specific option was tailored for those who don’t necessarily mind their data being archived but simply do not wish to see ads or want control over which ones they do see.
The majority of internet users won’t care or even know that their internet behavior is being tracked. For those who are privacy conscious or just curious, this is the tool that has long been awaited. If you’d like to see what information Google has on you, check out My Activity. All that is required is for you to log into your Google account and then you’ll free reign over your data.
