The Birmingham-based startup, Help Lightning, has raised $8 million in a new funding round led by Growth Partners.
In the four years since the company started, the company has signed up around 100 customers. These include Fortune 500 companies such as Siemens, Boston Scientific, and Cox Communication. Now, with this funding, the company is looking to expand its services and continue to refine its product.
Bart Guthrie originally introduced the company’s technology, which merges the video streams, so that experts can easily monitor and manage everything from service repairs to surgery.
Gary York, the CEO of the company, states, “You can think of it as a video call on steroids.” York is a serial entrepreneur. Bart Guthrie first pitched the idea to him around four years ago.
The technology easily works on mobile and Android devices and is accessible by a mobile browser. Now, the company has around 100 customers, which include Canon, Unisys, Cox, and Boston Scientific. Moreover, its usage has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the usage of other services, like the video-conferencing platform, Zoom, has also increased during the pandemic. However, it is facing several scandals these days.
York stated, “We saw the call-volume quadruple.” For example, Cox Communications uses technology to replace in-person services with virtual troubleshooting. Technicians can use the Help Lightning to link with experts to troubleshoot the fixes. York didn’t comment on prices. However, he stated that the company provides custom usage from time to time.
Jit Sinha, the co-founder and Managing Director of Resolve, said in a statement this week, “After observing the software market for a year, we are clear that Help lightning has built an amazing solution that is valued by the customers. We are quite happy and excited to partner with York and his talented team. We look forward to working with the company for a long time.”
