Hunters v.s Bean Boots: The Face-Off of 2014

Every winter, the grey, snowy slush that lines the sidewalks becomes a death trap for your brand new Steve Madden suede boots. While the falling white powder can lighten your neighborhood street to the North Pole, it’s hard to completely enjoy it when you know that in a few days the snow will have turned to mush. Your shoes? They’ll be ruined. You can personally thank Mother Nature for that one.

This year however, it’s time to be prepared. There are two types of boots that can make the old, slushy snow a breeze this winter. They are the Hunter rain boot and the Bean Boot. Which style of boot you choose is up to you, but watch out because they’ve been warring one another since the leaves just barely turned orange last fall.

Hunter rain boots are a classic, and have been around forever. Even Kate Middleton wears her olive green Hunters to keep her dry on rainy days. These boots are sturdy, and give you coverage from your foot to just below your knee. While these are rain boots first and foremost, they work great in snow too. They have special fuzzy sock inserts that will keep even the coldest snow-lover warm and cozy.

Bean Boots on the other hand are a little more outdoorsy. While these boots are made specifically for the snow, their shorter than Hunter’s and wont give your leg as much coverage. They are, however, perfect for trekking through city streets blanketed in fresh powder. They have great traction and come in a variety of wintery colors.

Whatever the occasion, both boots are sure to keep you warm and dry when the slush starts to pick up. Pull them on for your commute to work—heels are not preferred in snowy weather—then do a quick swap before you get into the office. No matter what, you’re guaranteed to look great roughing the snowy streets this winter.
