Isaiah Stokes has been ranked number seventy-three in the class of 2017 by ESPN. He is also the younger brother of Jarnell Stokes, the former Tennessee star that was selected with the number thirty-five pick of the 2014 NBA draft. Stokes is also considered a three-star offensive tackle in football. Basically, at 6’8 and 273 pounds, the kid is a solid player.
It came to the surprise of no one, given that information, when Isaiah Stokes shattered the backboard at a grassroots event in Las Vegas. You can see an NBA recap video of the glass-breaking dunk here:

There also came plenty of photographs and tweets about the event as it was witnessed. Many worried about the injuries the young player might have received, as he fell directly into the pile of glass left in the wake of his epic shot.
It was confirmed that Stokes received a few small flesh wounds, but nothing major. There are pictures of him having his wounds treated in the arena, but the all-star young player otherwise seems ready to get back onto the court.
Several people tweeted on the event. Rodger Bohn, @rodgerbohn, called Stokes a “straight up monster”. 3 Stripe Hoops, @3stripehoops, likewise commented: “We are now 1 backboard short here in Vegas”.
I doubt anyone will be thinking of Stokes as a “gentle giant” after this. A dunk like that has already earned the young man even more of a name for himself. Like his older brother, Jarnell Stokes, many sports fans are seeing stars for Isaiah Stokes’ future. Major channels like ESPN are already closely following the young man’s progress, as are many fans.
For making a dunk like that before hitting your senior year, you are sure to earn some credit. Isaiah Stokes has become a legend with one fell swoop (or dunk, in this case). Fans are eager to see what he will do next.
