Formula One driver Felipe Massa of Brazil has stated that Formula One and the governing FIA will not receive any further deadline extensions to respond to threatened court action regarding the 2008 world championship. Massa expects to hear from both parties by November 15 and hopes that their response will align with what he believes is the right course of action. Massa alleges that a “conspiracy” prevented him from winning the 2008 title. The FIA and F1 had requested an extension until November 15 to complete an internal investigation, following an August 15 Letter Before Claim. Massa’s legal team granted this extension, which was the second one given. Massa stated that they are now waiting for a response and if necessary, the case will proceed to court. Lewis Hamilton won the 2008 title by a single point, and Massa believes that the race should have been canceled due to alleged knowledge of the incident being covered up by the sport’s leaders. Massa mentioned that the multiple deadline extensions requested by the FIA and Formula One indicate that they are taking his actions seriously. FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated that Massa had been in touch and that the matter was being handled by the FIA’s legal team. Massa confirmed that he had sent a message but had not received a response. He believes that the FIA should prioritize protecting the sport rather than themselves. Massa expressed his hope that Ferrari would support him, as he believes that many people within the team, including mechanics, engineers, and fans, are on his side.
