Movies set to be released for this year get the movie-goers eager to flock to cinemas.

Starwars: The Rise of Skywalker closed the year 2019 with a bang. This 2020 we have varieties of movies to watch out for, and here are some of them.

1. Birds of Prey

This is a follow up to Suicide Squad and the 8th movie from the DC Comics team. This superhero film stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco, Ali Wong, and Ewan McGregor. Set release date: February 7, 2020

2. A Quiet Place Part II

The sequel to A Quiet Place (2018). Casts of the movie are Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe, Cillian Murphy, and Djimon Hounsou. Set release date: March 20, 2020.

3. Mulan

Walt Disney Pictures would finally release the live-action adaptation of the 1998 animated film Mulan. It stars Liu Yifei as Mulan with Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li, and Jet Li. Set release date: March 27, 2020.

4. No Time To Die 007

Daniel Craig is once again back with this 25th James Bond film franchise. Also stars Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Léa Seydoux, and Christoph Waltz, Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, and Ana de Armas. Set release date: April 2020

5. The New Mutants

This is based on the Marvel Comics team and the 13th and final installment of the X-Men film series. Starring Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga. Set release date: April 3, 2020

6. Bloodshot

This sci-fi superhero movie is the first installment based on the Valiant comics character. It stars Vin Diesel as Raymond Garrison/Bloodshot. Other co-stars are Eliza Gonzales, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell, and Guy Pearce. Set release date: April 13, 2020

7. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run

This is the first stylized CG animated SpongeBob Squarepants movie. It is directed by former series writer Tim Hill. He wrote the screenplay with Michael Kvamme, Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. Set release date: May 22, 2020

8. Fast and Furious 9

This is the 9th installment of the Fast saga. It stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron. Set release date: May 22, 2020

9. Artemis Fowl

This movie is based on a novel by Eoin Colfer. The casts are Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh Gad, and Judi Dench. Set release date: May 29, 2020

10. Wonder Woman 1984

Gal Gadot comes back as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. Other casts are Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen. This is a sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman and the 9th installment in the DC Extended Universe. Set release date: June 5, 2020.

11. Top Gun: Maverick

After more than 30 years, Tom Cruise produced the Top Gun sequel with Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison. Cruise co-stars are Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Set release date: June 26, 2020

12. Minions: The Rise of Gru

The Minions are back as a sequel to the 2015 film. Directed again by Kyle Balda with Brad Ableson and Jonathan del Val as co-directors. Set release date: July 3, 2020

13. Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Starring Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd, with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts. This is the 4th movie in the Ghostbusters franchise. The set released date: July 10, 2020

14. Jungle Cruise

Walt Disney Pictures produced this adventure film based on its theme park attraction. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti. Set release date: July 24, 2020

15. Morbius

Marvel Comics might be dominating the widescreen this year.  Morbius is another character from its many comic stories. Starring Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson. Set release date: July 31, 2020.

16. Monster Hunter

This fantasy action thriller movie is based on the video game series of the same name. It stars Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, T.I., Ron Perlman, Meagan Good, and Diego Boneta. Set release date: September 4, 2020

17. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

This supernatural horror film is the 8th installment of the Conjuring franchise. Conjuring 3 casts are Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Sterling Jerins, Julian Hilliard, Sarah Catherine Hook, Charlene Amoia, and Ruairi O’Connor. Set release date: September 11, 2020

18. The King’s Man

This is a prequel based on the comic book series Kingsman. An action-comedy spy period film starring Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance. Set release date: September 18, 2020

19. Snake Eyes

This is the third installment of the G.I. Joe franchise. Set release date: October 23, 2020.

20. West Side Story

This Broadway romantic musical movie adaptation is directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg, with a screenplay by Tony Kushner. It stars Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler. Set release date: December 18, 2020.

21. Tom and Jerry

This is the live-action/animated comedy film directed by Tim Story. Casts are Chloë Grace Moretz, Michael Peña, Ken Jeong, and Rob Delaney. The classic cartoon characters Tom and Jerry, created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, would be having another adventure in theaters on December 23, 2020.
