Our return to Stars Hollow is less than a month away!
If you haven’t already heard, Lorelai and Rory are headed back to our television screens in a new Netflix series, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. This much anticipated four-part series will continue the story of this mother/daughter duo nine years after the original ended in 2007.
If you’ve been living under a rock for the last sixteen years, Gilmore Girls was a popular television show starring Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham which premiered in 2000 and ran for seven seasons. Creator and showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino, unfortunately, was not involved in the final season of Gilmore Girls due to a dispute with The CW, leaving the eighth and final season in the hands of David S. Rosenthal, who previously had written and directed many episodes.
Due to this sudden cancellation, many GG fans were left feeling unsatisfied, with no closure. Then, in a 2012 interview for her ABC Family show Bunheads, Sherman-Palladino spoke of the dispute with The CW and her interest in doing a revival of some sort. Finally, in 2015 Warner Bros. made a deal with Netflix for a limited series consisting of four parts, with Sherman-Palladino at the helm.
Since this news, GG fans have been discussing and theorizing what Rory and Lorelai have been up to and have been getting tons of pictures and social media posts from the stars documenting their return to Stars Hollow. On November 25th, all four parts of the series will be released on Netflix. Haven’t seen the show in awhile? Or maybe you’ve never seen it at all? Netflix has got you covered with all seven seasons!
