Chances are the beginning of 2015 will entail new gym memberships and extra trips to the veggie section at Wholefoods. Losing weight is the number one New Year’s Resolution, so this year it’s time to actually make your dreams a reality. Are you trying to be healthier and lose weight? Here’s five ways to get started, and stick to it.
1) Get motivated
Losing weight takes a lot of will power, so if you really want to do it you need to be in the right mindset. Do something to get motivated. Start a private Pinterest board and post workout ideas, recipes or motivational quotes. It sounds cheesy, but it’s sure to help you in the long run.
2) Work out a routine
Getting into a routine or a schedule is pertinent to your success. Set aside a specific time everyday to work out, and soon enough you’ll be used to exercising everyday. Try to eat at the same time everyday, depending on your schedule of course, that way you won’t randomly get stuck eating late at night (never eat at night).
3) Prepare your meals in advance
Ordering out for lunch everyday can take a toll on your cash flow as well as your waistline. Instead of buying lunch everyday, pack healthier options for yourself. Pack a salad with protein and fruit, or a turkey wrap. Look up recipes on Pinterest, there’s so many meals you can prepare in advance that are healthy and tasty.
4) Don’t overdo it
The most important thing about dieting is to not get carried away with it. Be sure to eat three meals a day. You shouldn’t be starving yourself, and you should be eating enough to balance out your work out. Treating yourself with a piece of pie every once in a while is okay, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
5) Be patient
Losing weight takes time, and the thing that will discourage you the most is thinking you should see immediate results. Give it time; you aren’t going to lose 10 pounds in a day.
