Nikola’s electric truck, which had previously been damaged, reignited at the company’s headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday afternoon. However, there were no injuries reported, according to a statement from the company. The incident caused shares of Nikola to fall 11.8% in early trading on Monday.
The company clarified that the fire occurred at approximately 2 pm at their headquarters and involved one of the trucks that had been previously damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the fire was quickly contained.
The damaged trucks were being kept at the Phoenix site for safety monitoring and ongoing investigations. Last month, Nikola reported a fire incident around its headquarters, suspecting foul play as the cause. The incident affected multiple trucks but did not result in any injuries.
A correction was made to the story, removing the reference to the company not specifying if the truck that caught fire was damaged.
