North Korea has been known to tell a few white lies when it comes to their Bombs. Since 2006 there have been three known failed attempts on making a bomb that actually work for the nation.
North Korea said their most recent test was a “spectacular success”, and it just happened to be the first ever Hydrogen Bomb Test for the DPRK. Flexing his nuclear warhead muscles, Kim Jong Un made his statement that he wanted to “make the world … look up to our strong nuclear country.” But the real question that everyone is asking did it really happen or is another white lie from Kim Jong Un?
At this time the United States are feeling that the claims are just that, empty claims. The White House spokesman Josh Earnest stated that “the initial analysis is not consistent with the North Korean claims.” Now is the analysis saying it is a definite no but some of the experts are saying that Pyongyang detonated a different type of hydrogen bomb. What they can say that North Korea did not have permissions to do this kind of test and despite the calls to not to do still go ahead to do the test.
So very quickly the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting and promised to work immediately on a new resolution. So are others around the world saying about North Korea’s activities and actions. Without a doubt China, who is North Korea’s main ally, said that they “firmly oppose” the test. Japan said that it was and is a “major threat” to its national security.
Now the United States and South Korea did agree together that “North Korea’s provocations should have consequences”. Russia did warn that the actions could amount to “a severe violation of international law”, and that there is a need for talks with North Korea. The EU did wish and urge North Korea to “cease this illegal and dangerous behavior”. NATO did say and want North Korea to abandon the nuclear weapons program immediately.
Both China and Japan are trying to detect radiation but nothing yet at this time. The Former British ambassador in Pyongyang, John Everard, did say that “an explosion of that size is quite enough to wipe out a city and I think that, of course, is deeply worrying” so that does add the pressure on what really did happen that is for sure.
South Korean President Park Geun-hye said that there needed to be further analysis to determine the nature of the kind of test that was done. He did add that it was “a strong challenge to international peace and stability” that North Korea did. The UK ambassador for the UN Roycroft did say that “We will be working with others on a resolution on further sanctions.” Those going into the UN meeting all can agree that this test was not the best news and has caused a ripple in the international community.
