If one is under the impression that Kangaroo’s waltz around on the streets of Australia, Dragons fly across Middle Earth and Bears stroll across Colorado, then an incident like this will just fuel your expectations.
Peter Rizzuto, 77, was taking a nap at a Colorado Mountain town. Suddenly, he woke up only to find a bear at his feet. The bear appeared to have been nibbling on Rizzuto’s ankle.
When Rizzuto reported this incident to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Department, he refused to place any of their bear traps in his backyard at the ski resort in Aspen.
He said,
“I’m worried it might trap the wrong bear.”
However, Mike Porras, who is the spokesman for the Parks and Wildlife in the area said,
“If it is walking up to humans and doing this, it would not be a big surprise if it did it again. No one wants to put a bear down. But when a bear is not afraid of humans or is approaching humans, that is a cause for concern.”
In accordance to some wildlife officials, even though attacks are rare, they usually take place when bears are hungry and don’t fear the humans.
