Donald Trump and his children often completely take back and reword official statements. They also often do this through Twitter.
With worries already high regarding the Trump family’s connections to Russia, ties to the Kremlin, and illegal activity surrounding the past presidential election, Trump’s recent contradictory statements have only further confused and concerned Americans.
One fact has been particularly debated by media, skeptics, and the Trumps themselves. Donald Trump Jr. held a meeting with Trump’s top campaign advisors and Kremlin lawyers. In other words, Trump’s top personnel and the Kremlin’s top personnel met in the midst of the 2016 presidential campaign.
Doubts regarding this situation have only risen due to conflicting statements.
In June of 2017, after proof surfaced that Russia interfered with the American Presidential election, Donald Trump Jr. stated that he held his meeting with Russian officials solely to discuss U.S. adoption of Russian children. When questioned by the New York Times, Trump Jr. stated that the meeting “primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children.”
Now, however, President Donald Trump has changed the story.
On Sunday, President Trump had a new way of explaining his son’s “totally legal” meeting with Russian officials. He even made sure to take a dig at the media while he attempted to explain this jumbled story.
Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics – and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!

This tweet, along with the rest of the U.S. President’s infamous Twitter account, will now join the statements currently being scrutinized and analyzed by Robert Mueller in his investigation into Russian interference.
