Earlier today the Overlord trailer was released by Paramount Pictures and it has a lot going on.
There has been much speculation about this movie. First, the J.J. Abrams Bad Robot production company is producing the movie. With Bad Robot behind the wheel and a dark, monstrous concept, many people thought this movie would be set in the Cloverfield universe.
However, Abrams has denied this and he’s probably telling the truth. All of the other Cloverfield movies had Cloverfield in their movie titles; also those movies all took place in a relative present.
This movie is going all the way back to World War Two. On the surface, the premise is thrilling. The movie doesn’t seem like it will be complex. Based on the trailer, Overlord looks like a movie that wants to take its viewers on a horrific adventure. I guess at least the movie knows what it wants to be.
There will be blood, guts and a whole of zombies being torn down. The Nazis are the villains of the movie but the innocent prisoners turned zombies will also be a threat.
Possibly there will be the realization that these people can’t be safe and that the only way to save them is to end their existence. I think the movie is going to lack depth but might be entertaining.
There’s so much going in the trailer but the effects look visually stunning. This trailer doesn’t make me excited to see this movie. But I am hopeful that this movie will be good enough to see in theatres.
Overlord opens in theatres on November 9, 2018.
