In a shocking development, the Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his Mumbai residence; his manager confirmed the news on Sunday. According to the police sources, the PK actor had committed suicide, and an investigation has been initiated into the unfortunate incident.
However, there was no suicide note found at his residence in Bandra. The additional commissioner of police, Manoj Sharma, also said that the initial reports suggest that the actor had committed suicide. Sushant, who gained fame from his hit Balaji TV soap ‘Pavitra Rishta’ and entered the silver screen with a string of big hits.

He was best known for starring in films like PK, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, and Kai Po Chae. The tributes have begun pouring in from across the country, especially Bollywood actors. His death has sent shock waves around the world. Sushant was a native from Patna, and before dropping out to pursue his dream as an actor, he studied engineering in New Delhi.
Sushant’s death has also sparked much-needed debate on mental health, something that Sushant too had raised his voice in the past, numerous times. His death comes surprisingly a week after his former manager Disha Salian committed suicide. He took to social media to express his shock and grief in a heartfelt post.
Ekta Kapoor, the Balaji Telefilm Boss, who also gave Sushant his start as an actor, expressed her grief in a social media post. Rajput’s latest film to hit in cinemas was ‘Chhichhore,’ in which he started beside Shradha Kapoor. The film released in 2019 went on to emerge as a massive blockbuster at the box office.
His new film co-starring with Saif Ali Khan, ‘Dil Bechara,’ was scheduled to be released in May, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, the release was postponed.
In 2012, he made his silver screen debut with ‘Kai Po Che’ was a great film but gained moderate success. However, Sushant went on to deliver his massive hits like ‘PK’ and ‘Kedarnath.’ Rajput’s death comes a few months after two Indian superstars Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan, passed away. Battling neuroendocrine tumor, the ‘Angrezi Medium’ actor, Irrfan, died in April.
