Coronavirus pandemic is undoubtedly a financial threat to all sectors including sports. All the major sports events have been postponed, including Tokyo Olympic 2020 due to coronavirus pandemic. Now Premier League clubs are planning to ask players to take a 30% pay cut so that all the associated jobs can be saved. It has announced that the season will resume until all the governments allow and clubs feel appropriate to do so. According to the recent updates, all the clubs have been agreed to convey a “combination of conditional reductions and deferrals” to players. Premier League will advance £125m to the EFL and National League, and stretch £20m towards the NHS. All the clubs are still hopeful about completing all leagues and fixtures. Women’s Championship, Women’s Super League, and the EFL have not fixed return date, and somehow it says that English football is on hold for indefinitely.

According to a statement from the Premier League, it is now clear that Premier League will not resume at the starting of May. The 2019-2020 season will take place when medical guidance will allow with the full support of the governments. Health Minister Matt Hancock indeed enabled scrutiny for players so that they accept a cut in wages and ‘play their part’ in order stretching supporting hands during this global pandemic. As a result of the shutdown, a lot of clubs had enabled paid leaves for non-playing staff.

All Premier League clubs have decided to ask the players to grant a 30% cut in wage so that they can use that money in other areas like paying salaries to the non-playing staff.

According to recent updates, England’s football bodies accepted that they had little option other than extending the present suspension period. It is now clear that the FA cup will be paused at the quarter-final stage for a bit longer than expected. The promotion and relegation issues are still unsolved. Since 1990, Liverpool nervously awaits the chance to complete their first league title triumph. Nothing is happening, but a lot of conversations are taking place. The conclusion of the historic 2019-2020 season is being discussed now.
