The Repeat Clothing Offense That No One Will Notice

Shopping is always a great time, until you add up all your receipts and realize how much cash you actually blew in such a short time span (I only went to two stores?!). It’s important to buy nice items that will hold up and that you absolutely love, even if they may be pricey. It’s even more important to buy simple things that you can wear often—yes, even more than once in a week (gasp). While getting the most out of your clothes is essential, dressing said repeated item up so no one notices the repeat offense is pertinent.

Take this plain black blazer by Neville. Don this blazer to work on Tuesday with a plain white button up shirt, a J. Crew bubble necklace, your black dress pants, and black heels. You’ll emit a professional and classy aura, which always helps productivity for that day. Come Friday, break that same blazer out again, but this time pair it with a look Brandy Melville heather grey t-shirt, medium wash skinny jeans, and Jeffrey Campbell’s Hanger booties (thank you casual Friday). Everyone will be too busy gushing over your shoes to realize you wore that exact same blazer four days earlier.

While not every item  you buy can be worn more than once a week—example A: that pink and black striped sweater you bought last week—you can specifically shop for simple, quality pieces  that can be worn various ways for various occasions. So get shopping, and look out for neutral shades and a classy aura and build a collection of staple pieces; you won’t be disappointed.
