Sexton becomes Ireland’s all-time leading points scorer

Johnny Sexton became Ireland’s all-time leading points scorer during the first half of their World Cup Pool B match against Tonga. He surpassed Ronan O’Gara’s record of 1,083 points by scoring a penalty and converting tries by Caelan Doris, Tadhg Beirne, and Mack Hansen. In the 38th minute, Sexton crossed the line under the posts to secure the record for himself. The 38-year-old flyhalf, who has 114 Ireland caps since his debut in 2009, is also the highest points scorer in the Six Nations with 566 points, surpassing O’Gara’s tally this year.
