Come Friday its finally the beginning of the weekend (TGIF!), so what better way to celebrate than to mosey on over to the nearest bar and hang out with your long lost friends (who somehow seem to be busier at work than you are)? The only issue is that you only have 30 minutes from the time you get out of work to the time you agreed to meet them, which means you need an outfit that’s appropriate enough for work, yet fun enough for the bar. Seems like a predicament doesn’t it? Well, not to worry because with the right accessories you’re good to go. The key is simplicity.
The most important thing is picking out something unassuming, like a plain black dress. Pair this BCBG dress with a black blazer, opaque black tights and classic black heels. Throw on your favorite gold watch and a simple gold chain Dogeared necklace, and you’re ready for hours of toiling away in that tiny cubical you like to call your office. Come 5 o’clock, if your lucky, shed that pesky blazer and throw on the taupe fur vest you’ve been hiding under your desk all day. Switch out your heels for Jeffrey Campbell booties, and let your loose curls out of that tight pony (beware of the dreaded ponytail crease). Suddenly it’s like the martini you’ve been dreaming of all day is calling your name.
Check out at Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, or Lord and Taylor for simple, work appropriate dresses that can also be dressed up just enough for the nightlife after work. Keeping a bag full of jewelry, or going-out shoes under your desk is the perfect fix for plans made during the workday. It’s easy to stay prepared, just think simplicity, and you’ll be golden from sunrise to sunset.
