Max Verstappen celebrated his 44th career win in the Hungarian Grand Prix, but he expressed a desire to move on from that number as soon as possible. Lewis Hamilton, his rival and a seven-time world champion, races with the number 44 on his Mercedes, which is closely associated with him. Verstappen stated in the post-race press conference that he hopes to surpass 44 wins. With the upcoming race in Belgium, there is a high possibility that Verstappen will achieve his goal and reach 45 wins. Verstappen has been on an impressive winning streak, with seven consecutive wins and nine out of 11 victories. Last year, he won the Belgian Grand Prix starting from the 14th position on the grid. The current Formula One record for consecutive wins is nine, set by Sebastian Vettel in 2013. Red Bull has now won a record-breaking 12 races in a row, including 11 wins this season and the final race in Abu Dhabi last year. Verstappen expressed his hope to maintain this momentum for a long time and acknowledged the difficulty of achieving 12 consecutive wins, even with the fastest car. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and the challenges of avoiding mistakes or having an off weekend. Verstappen has consistently performed well, finishing off the podium only twice in his last 23 races. Red Bull’s 12 consecutive wins surpassed McLaren’s previous record of 11 wins in 1988. Team boss Christian Horner praised the team’s hard work and dedication in achieving this milestone.
